Job summary

Texas Health and Human Services Commission (HHSC) is seeking an Eligibility Advisor I for a temporary assignment in Abilene, TX. The role supports the Access and Eligibility Services (AES) division, helping Texans access food, medical care, cash assistance and other social services.

Must be able to work overtime and thrive in a fast-paced environment. Essential duties include interviewing applicants, evaluating data, and computing benefits while adhering to regulations.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• 60 semester or 90 quarter hours from an accredited college preferred.
• One year of customer service experience required.
• Experience interviewing clients over the phone or in-person preferred.

Responsibilities

• Interview applicants and recipients to determine financial eligibility for programs.
• Enter data into computer-based eligibility systems from various sources.
• Compute and authorize benefits based on eligibility.
• Process work per state/federal regulations and procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
