Health & Human Services Commission (HHSC) is hiring an Eligibility Advisor I for the AES division in Texas. The role supports SNAP, TANF, Medicaid programs and other social services, with a pathway from Advisor I to II based on performance.

Comprehensive training, overtime potential, and telework eligibility are noted. The position requires strong communication, data interpretation, and regulatory compliance skills.

Qualifications

• Education: High School Diploma or GED; 60 semester or 90 quarter hours preferred.
• Experience: 1 year of customer service experience; substitute hours possible.
• Strong data entry, basic arithmetic, and ability to follow regulations.

Responsibilities

• Interview applicants to determine financial eligibility for public assistance.
• Enter data into eligibility system from various sources.
• Compute and authorize benefits based on eligibility.
• Process work per regulations and procedures; perform other duties.
