Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to implement and improve security controls across the enterprise data estate, including Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, and Azure SQL environments. This 100% remote role reports to the Deputy CISO and collaborates with Security Operations, Data & Analytics, and other IT teams.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, information security or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, database engineering, data engineering, or related field; 2+ years in data protection or database security.
• Clear written and verbal communication with technical and non-technical audiences.

Responsibilities

• Implements data protection controls across the enterprise data estate.
• Configures encryption controls for data at rest and in transit.
• Implements least-privilege access models (RBAC/ABAC) and conducts entitlement reviews.
• Harden security configurations for cloud platforms and databases.
• Automates control deployment and compliance validation via scripting and IaC.
• Documents guides, runbooks, and supports secure design reviews.
