Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to implement and operate security controls across the enterprise data estate. The role focuses on encryption, access management, and secure data pipelines, with collaboration across Security Operations, Data & Analytics, and IT teams.

You will work 100% remotely from approved states and report to the Deputy CISO, helping protect institutional data and support secure data solutions across MS Fabric, Databricks, and Azure SQL.

Qualifications

• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, data engineering, or related field.
• 2+ years focused on data protection or database security.
• Bachelor's degree in IT, CS, information security or related field.

Responsibilities

• Implements and maintains data protection controls across the enterprise data estate.
• Configures encryption controls for data at rest and in transit, including CMKs.
• Implements least-privilege access models and conducts entitlement reviews.
• Hardens security configurations for Azure SQL, Databricks, and Microsoft Fabric.
• Automates control deployment and integrates data security telemetry with SOC.
