Job summary

Southern New Hampshire University is seeking a Data Security Engineer to protect institutional data across the enterprise, including platforms like Microsoft Fabric, Databricks, Azure SQL, and SQL Server. This 100% remote role collaborates with Security Operations, Data & Analytics, and IT teams, reporting to the Deputy CISO.

You will implement encryption, access controls, masking, key management, and secure data pipelines, while building runbooks and guides for ongoing security operations.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information technology, computer science, information security or related discipline.
• 7+ years of experience in information security, cloud engineering, database engineering, data engineering, or a related field.
• 2+ years focused on data protection or database security.

Responsibilities

• Implement data protection controls across the enterprise.
• Operate encryption controls for data at rest and in transit.
• Enforce least-privilege access models across data platforms and services.
• Harden security configurations for analytics platforms and data stores.
• Automate control deployment and compliance validation via scripts and IaC.
