Job summary

Husch Blackwell LLP is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead the design and build-out of a cloud-based data platform, ensuring high-quality, well-documented data for analytics, reporting, applications, and AI. You will set data engineering standards and coordinate teams across analytics, IT operations, and business leadership.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in CS, engineering, or information systems; graduate degree preferred.
• 3–5 years leading data engineering or related teams with direction and standards.
• Experience managing budgets and cost-conscious tool/platform decisions.
• Strong data engineering practices for ingestion, transformation, and analytics support.
• Extensive data management, transformation, performance, reliability, and scalability focus.
• Advanced SQL and data structure design in relational and other stores.
• Cloud experience (Azure or AWS) with platform services.
• Python and data tooling knowledge for collaboration with Data Science & AI teams.
• Collaboration with data scientists, analysts, and AI practitioners on downstream analytics.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all Data Engineering staff and foster growth.
• Provide technical and architectural leadership for the data platform.
• Define and promote data engineering standards and best practices.
• Design, implement, and maintain data acquisition and organization processes.
• Ensure scalable, reliable data pipelines and governance controls.
• Partner with stakeholders to translate needs into platform improvements.
• Manage projects with scope, timelines, risks, and decisions.
