Job summary

Husch Blackwell LLP is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead the design and build-out of the firm’s cloud-based data platform. This role focuses on high-quality data for analytics, reporting, and AI, setting engineering standards, and coordinating cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities include supervising data engineers, ensuring data quality and governance, and partnering with Data Science & AI, IT Operations, and business leaders to deliver trusted data products.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS/engineering or related field; graduate degree preferred.
• 3–5 years leading data engineering or related technical teams; setting direction and standards.
• Experience with data ingestion, transformation, and analytics support in cloud environments.
• Strong SQL and data structure design skills for relational and other storage tech.
• Ability to collaborate with data scientists, analysts, and AI practitioners.

Responsibilities

• Supervise all Data Engineering staff and enable professional growth.
• Delegate tasks and ensure efficient workload distribution.
• Conduct regular performance reviews and set clear goals for reports.
• Promote a collaborative, inclusive environment and strong team communication.
• Define and promote best practices for data engineering and data platform standards.
• Design, implement, and maintain scalable data pipelines and data foundations.
• Ensure data quality, lineage, access controls, and governance.
