Job summary

Husch Blackwell LLP is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead the design and build-out of the firm’s cloud-based data platform, ensuring high-quality data for analytics, reporting, applications, and AI.

You will supervise data engineering staff, define engineering standards, collaborate with Data Science & AI and IT, and drive scalable, secure data solutions across the firm. This role may be remote or hybrid in CST locations; strong candidates from Mountain Time may be considered.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field, or equivalent industry experience; graduate degree preferred.
• 3–5 years of experience leading data engineering or closely related technical teams.
• Experience managing budgets and cost-conscious decisions about tools, platforms, and services.
• Strong understanding of modern data engineering practices for analytics and AI.
• Experience with data management, transformation, performance, and scalability.
• Advanced SQL and data structure design in relational and other stores.
• Experience in cloud environments (Azure or AWS) with platform services.

Responsibilities

• Supervising all Data Engineering staff persons.
• Foster professional growth and skill development in direct reports.
• Delegate tasks and responsibilities for workload and efficiency.
• Conduct regular performance evaluations, provide feedback, and set goals.
• Promote team engagement through communication and collaboration.
• Define and promote best practices for data engineering and cloud technologies.
• Design, implement, and maintain reliable data acquisition and organization processes.
• Ensure scalable, maintainable data solutions with performance and capacity management.
• Collaborate with Data Science & AI, IT Operations, and business leaders to translate challenges into platform improvements.
• Lead planning, deployment, and ongoing management of data initiatives.
