Job summary

Husch Blackwell LLP is seeking a Data Engineering Manager to lead the design and build-out of a cloud-based data platform, ensuring high-quality data for analytics, reporting, applications, and AI. You will establish standards, collaborate with Data Science & AI teams, and coordinate multiple stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure data products.

The role requires strong SQL, Python, cloud experience (Azure or AWS), and leadership in data engineering.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in computer science, engineering, information systems, or related field, or equivalent industry experience.
• At least 3–5 years leading data engineering or closely related technical teams.
• Experience with budgets and cost-conscious tool decisions.
• Strong data engineering practices for ingestion, consolidation, transformation, and analytics support.
• Extensive data management, transformation, performance, reliability, and scalability experience.
• Advanced SQL and data structure design for relational and other storage tech.
• Experience with modern cloud environments (Azure or AWS) and platform services.
• Proficiency in Python and data tooling; able to review designs with engineers and collaborate with Data Science & AI teams.

Responsibilities

• Lead the design and build-out of the firm’s cloud-based data platform from the ground up.
• Set standards for data engineering methods and product reliability across teams.
• Coordinate teams to deliver trustworthy and secure data products.
• Ensure data quality, lineage, documentation, and access controls; contribute to governance.
• Provide architectural leadership for data platforms and define best practices.
• Manage projects, scope, timelines, risks, dependencies, and decisions.
