Job summary

ABB in the United States seeks a Director-level Data Center Services leader to run day-to-day service activities for the ELSE Data Center Services Center of Excellence. You will own execution within the Data Center Service segment and help build a surge team across Data Center and Field Services.

The role supports a remote-work model within the US (prefer Western/Mountain Time Zones) and focuses on delivering enhanced service availability, quality, and customer experience through strategic

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Engineering or Business or commensurate experience.
• Sound knowledge of Data Center Start-up and Commissioning strategies, field service personnel development and the electrical industry within the Data Center market
• Knowledge of MS Project, Google suite (Sheets, Docs, Drive, Slides), SAP, and project issue resolution software (BIM, Compass, CxAlloy, Procore, etc.)
• Must be able to interpret and work from engineering drawings and technical specifications.
• Technical understanding of power delivery equipment: transformers, switchgear, breakers, relays, etc.
• Maintain high standards for safety and housekeeping and assure compliance with all environmental regulations.
• Strong leadership, clear communication, teamwork, and a customer-focused mindset.
• Willing to travel up to 50% of time
• Candidates must already have a work authorization to work for ABB in the US.

Responsibilities

• Implements and leads day-to-day service activities for the Data Center Services Center of Excellence.
• Develops, implements, and reviews field service strategy aligned with global objectives.
• Ensures strong customer focus and urgency in service interactions to drive retention.
• Drives continuous improvement and KPI-based performance management.
• Identifies on-site opportunities to improve customer operations and informs account teams.
• Leads a culture of operational excellence, risk management and end-to-end service delivery.
• Manages resource planning, workload balancing, and compliance with HSE and ABB Way.
• Oversees Surge Team operations including onboarding, training, and validation of timesheets and invoices.
• Coaches and develops Field Service Engineers/Technicians for high-quality execution.
• Collaborates with ABB teams to assign personnel and support project execution.
