Job summary

CONTACT Care Line is seeking full-time, remote Crisis Counselors in the United States. This role requires 40 hours per week with 8.5-hour shifts, and weekend coverage is required.

Counselors assess suicide risk, provide compassionate support, and document interactions while following clinical and legal guidelines. Responsibilities include responding to 988 chat, text, and phone interactions, managing two concurrent chats during chat shifts, and providing follow-up outreach when needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Social Work or related field with 120 college credits or equivalent experience.
• Minimum of 1 year of experience in mental health, crisis intervention, or related field.
• Ability to stay calm and apply logical reasoning in high-stress situations.
• Ability to identify and respond to imminent risk with appropriate urgency.
• Proficiency with web-based applications and troubleshooting basic issues.
• Commitment to non-judgmental, compassionate support for all visitors.

Responsibilities

• Respond to 988 chat, text, and telephone interactions in a timely and compassionate manner.
• Assess and mitigate suicide risk using established protocols and safety planning procedures.
• Provide referrals to appropriate community resources as needed.
• Accurately document all visitor interactions in accordance with organizational procedures.
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to clinical, legal, and operational guidelines.
• Engage in training for chat and phone-based services and participate in meetings/supervision via Teams.
