Job summary

CONTACT Care Line is seeking remote Crisis Counselors to join our 40-hour/week team. This fully remote role features 8.5-hour shifts and required weekend work, with emphasis on suicide risk assessment, compassionate support, and thorough documentation.

You will respond to 988 chat, text, and phone interactions, maintain confidentiality, and follow clinical and operational protocols. A bachelor's degree in social work or related field and at least 1 year of mental health experience are required.

Qualifications

• Minimum 18 years of age and not a current client of CONTACT Care Line program
• Bachelor’s degree or 120 credits in social work or related field required
• Minimum 1 year of experience in mental health or crisis intervention
• Must complete CONTACT Crisis Counselor Basic Training within two weeks of employment
• Strong verbal and written communication, with empathy and confidentiality central to every interaction
• Ability to remain calm and apply logic in high-stress situations
• Must have reliable high-speed internet and hardwired Ethernet connection

Responsibilities

• Respond to 988 chat, text, and telephone interactions in a timely and compassionate manner
• Manage two concurrent chat interactions during chat-focused shifts
• Assess and mitigate suicide risk using established protocols and safety planning procedures
• Provide referrals to community resources as needed
• Follow all clinical and operational protocols across shifts, including initiating phone contact when needed
• Document all visitor interactions accurately and thoroughly
• Participate in meetings and supervision via Microsoft Teams
• Attend routine performance reviews and training
• Maintain confidentiality and adhere to non-discrimination and equity standards
• Assist in required reporting for abuse or safeguarding cases
