Job summary

Trojan Battery Company seeks a Cost Engineer to drive design-to-cost decisions and lead cost modeling for Lead-Acid and Li-ion platforms. You will work with Product Development, Manufacturing, and Sourcing to deliver cost improvements across materials, processes, and assemblies.

The role requires strong analytical skills, cross-functional collaboration, and the ability to translate data into actionable cost strategies, with remote-friendly work options and travel as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in engineering, finance, or related field
• 5–10 year track record of success in Cost Engineering
• Strong Excel and cost management system experience
• Experience and demonstrated skill in establishing criteria for cost management activities
• Demonstrated skill in identifying, analyzing, and solving problems driven by data
• Excellent communication and presentation skills to summarize and present to management
• Ability to travel as needed
• Proactive, results-oriented with strong attention to detail

Responsibilities

• Develop part-level and system-level should-cost models for Lead-Acid and Li-ion battery components
• Create commodity-level cost intelligence covering raw materials and processes
• Build target cost frameworks aligned with roadmaps, volumes, and margins
• Partner with Engineering and Manufacturing to influence design decisions via DTC
• Interface with commodity managers to develop cost models for pricing negotiations
• Implement Power BI dashboards for spend management and governance
• Develop new cost tools and digital models and train staff
