Job summary

Trojan Battery Company seeks a Manufacturing Engineer to join its team in Georgia. The role focuses on designing, developing, improving, and leveraging manufacturing technologies to produce high-quality products safely.

Responsibilities include identifying process controls, reducing waste through Lean practices, applying SMED, Kan-Ban, Kaizen, and TPM, and providing cross-functional support for continuous improvement. Strong project management and technical writing are valued.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering required.
  • 3–5 years of manufacturing experience.
  • Solid knowledge of battery manufacturing processes, preferably lead-acid.
  • Proficient with AutoCAD and data analysis tools.
  • Strong project management and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Identify how key functions in a process are identified, defined, and controlled.
  • Identify and troubleshoot quality and manufacturing efficiency issues.
  • Use statistical screening to improve process capability.
  • Provide process and operations support to cross‑functional teams.
  • Apply Lean manufacturing principles, eliminating waste and improving ergonomics.
  • Employ techniques such as SMED, Poka‑Yoke, Kan‑Ban, Kaizen, 6S, A3, and TPM.
  • Improve production machines through corrective, preventive, and predictive maintenance.
  • Determine costs, select vendors, and ensure accurate implementation.
  • Manage project expenditures and deliver projects on time and within budget.
  • Maintain compliance with local and federal regulations for system design.
  • Create engineering documents: PFMEA, SOPs, Job Element Sheets, time studies, cost estimates, line and cell balancing, capital expense requests, project schedules, design specifications, equipment specifications, and construction specifications.
  • Maintain ISO‑9001 knowledge and apply it to manufacturing processes.

Qualifications
  • 3 to 5 years of experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • 4‑year degree required, preferably in Electrical, Electronics, Mechanical, or Electro‑Mechanical Engineering.
  • Technical training in equipment operation technology (or equivalent work experience).
  • Solid knowledge of battery manufacturing processes, preferably lead‑acid batteries.
  • Strong project management skills and a proactive, business‑focused mindset.
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, work under pressure, and adapt to changing priorities.
  • High proficiency in Microsoft Office, AutoCAD, and statistical software.
  • Proficient technical writer with the ability to guide, prioritize, and execute tasks with minimal supervision.
  • Some work travel may be required.
