Job summary

ECU Health is seeking a medical coder to review documentation, assign ICD-10-CM/ CPT/HCPCS codes for inpatient, outpatient and ambulatory services. The role supports reporting, research, and compliance with coding guidelines.

The candidate will use 3M Encoder, maintain a productivity log, and ensure coding accuracy at or above 90% while safeguarding patient confidentiality. Remote role based out of Greenville, NC.

Qualifications

• High School or GED with AHIMA/AAPC credentials (RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P, CPC).
• 1–2 years of relevant coding experience required.

Responsibilities

• Provides code assignment for all levels of Professional Fee (Physician Coding) for Inpatient, Outpatient and/or Ambulatory Services.
• Assigns diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS.
• Verifies accuracy of code assignment provided by physicians and/or designated staff.
• Uses the 3M Encoder to arrive at the most accurate code.
• Maintains coding accuracy of 90% or better per policy.
• Reviews claims and corrects Claims Manager and Epic edits.

Education

High School or GED

Associate's Degree in Health Information Technology or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management
