Job summary

University of Vermont Health is seeking a Coder Level II for remote work in our Emergency Care Center coding team. You will assign ICD-10 CM diagnostic and CPT procedure codes to outpatient Fast Track accounts and may work in other outpatient areas such as Ancillary Services, Clinics, OB-GYN or Medical Necessity.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required.
• Successful completion of medical terminology, anatomy and physiology classes.
• Working knowledge of ICD-10CM and CPT coding guidelines and conventions.
• Understanding of Medical Necessity for Medicare targeted tests.
• Two years experience in Emergency Department (technical and profession) OR one year ED coding plus one year in Ancillary Services/Clinic/OB-GYN/Medical Necessity/SNF with CCS/CCS-P/RHIT/RHIA credential.
• Ability to achieve and maintain at least a 93% accuracy level while meeting AHIMA productivity benchmarks for primary coding duties.
• Work requires interpersonal skills to interact with Medical Staff, co-workers, and staff from various departments.
