Job summary

ECU Health in Greenville, NC is seeking a remote Medical Coder for professional fee billing across inpatient, outpatient, and ambulatory services for a large multi-specialty physician group.

Responsibilities include assigning ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS codes, reviewing physician-issued codes, and maintaining productivity and accuracy standards. Requires AHIMA or AAPC credentials and 1–2 years of coding experience; remote role with standard day shift and strong benefits.

Qualifications

• 1-2 years relevant coding experience required.
• RHIA, RHIT, CCS, CCS-P or CPC credentials are required.
• Associate's Degree in Health Information Technology or Bachelor's Degree in Health Information Management is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provides code assignment for all levels of Professional Fee (Physician Coding) for Inpatient, Outpatient and/or Ambulatory Services.
• Assigns diagnostic and procedural codes using ICD-10-CM and CPT/HCPCS per guidelines.
• Verifies accuracy of code assignment and sequences codes accordingly.
• Utilizes the 3M Encoder to arrive at most accurate code within policy timelines.
• Maintains weekly coding productivity log and reports issues to VMG Coding Supervisor/Manager.
• Maintains coding accuracy of 90% or better per policy.
