Job summary

First American is seeking a remote Appraiser to join its Mortgage Solutions valuation team. You will perform unbiased property assessments, analyze data, and develop accurate value estimates across diverse properties with guidance from Lead Appraisers.

Qualifications

• Minimum 0–1 years of related experience in mortgage/appraisal fields.
• Preferred REO appraisals experience.
• HUD/FHA experience.
• Bachelor's degree required.
• Ability to work under varying client-driven deadlines.
• Strong analytical and narrative writing skills.
• Ability to analyze data, draw sound conclusions and summarize results.
• Detail oriented and self-motivated.
• Excellent written and verbal communication; able to convey messages clearly to diverse audiences.
• Must hold an active Appraiser license or certification as required by state regulations.

Responsibilities

• Conduct unbiased assessments of market areas and data to estimate property values in line with guidelines.
• Document on-site assessments with photos, measurements, and comparable sales data.
• Draw land diagrams and provide visual documentation.
• Consider factors affecting property value (land, neighborhoods, trends, schools, etc.) and report findings.
• Generate fee quotes for valuations.
• Present final evaluations to buyers, sellers, investors, and agents.
• Collaborate with Lead Appraiser to resolve requests and suggest process improvements.
• Participate in monthly Appraiser meetings.
• Meet department turnaround times and escalate when deadlines may be missed.
