Job summary

Landway Inc. is seeking an experienced CDL-A Driver Recruiting & Onboarding Specialist to develop and manage our U.S. driver recruiting pipeline. This remote-flexible 1099 independent contractor role may require occasional in-person interviews in Knoxville/Farragut, TN.

Responsibilities include sourcing CDL-A drivers, coordinating pre-employment checks, onboarding, and sustaining a qualified candidate pipeline with leadership support for final hiring decisions.

Qualifications

• At least two years of hands-on experience recruiting CDL-A drivers in the United States.
• Direct experience with a U.S. motor carrier, trucking company, transportation staffing firm, or specialized driver recruiting organization.
• Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA driver qualification procedures.
• Demonstrated ability to source CDL-A drivers independently, not only manage employer-provided leads.
• Experience interviewing drivers, reviewing driving histories, coordinating pre-employment checks, and supporting onboarding.
• Excellent spoken and written English, strong organization, and consistent candidate follow-up.
• Ability to respond promptly to candidates while independently organizing your working schedule.
• Availability for occasional in-person meetings in Knoxville/Farragut, Tennessee.

Responsibilities

• Develop, manage, and improve our CDL-A driver recruiting strategy and hiring funnel.
• Independently source candidates through job boards, social media, industry networks, referrals, and direct outreach, and follow up with incoming applications.
• Serve as the first point of contact for driver candidates by phone, text, and email; conduct initial interviews and maintain follow-up.
• Coordinate and review pre-employment qualification procedures and background checks.
• Prepare candidate profiles and hiring recommendations for final review by Landway leadership.
• Guide drivers through onboarding, truck assignment, and their first dispatched trip.
• Track sourcing activity, candidate stages, recruiting costs, and 30-day driver retention.
