Job description

Landway Inc. is seeking an experienced CDL-A Driver Recruiting & Onboarding Specialist to develop and manage our U.S. driver recruiting pipeline.

ABOUT LANDWAY INC.

Landway Inc. is a Tennessee-based truck transportation company with a fleet of 40+ trucks. Our priority is to recruit qualified drivers while maintaining safety, qualification, and compliance standards, and to build a sustainable pipeline for driver turnover and future growth.

This is a remote-flexible 1099 independent contractor opportunity. You must be within reasonable driving distance of Knoxville/Farragut, Tennessee, and available for occasional in-person driver interviews and onboarding meetings. You will work directly with Landway leadership.

RESPONSIBILITIES
  • Develop, manage, and improve our CDL-A driver recruiting strategy and hiring funnel.
  • Independently source candidates through job boards, social media, industry networks, referrals, and direct outreach, and follow up with incoming website applications.
  • Serve as the first point of contact for driver candidates by phone, text, and email; conduct initial interviews and maintain organized follow-up.
  • Confirm that applicants meet Landway’s driver qualification standards, including at least two years of relevant CDL-A driving experience.
  • Send and collect applications, consent forms, disclosures, and onboarding documents.
  • Coordinate and review pre-employment qualification procedures, including MVR, PSP, FMCSA Clearinghouse queries, previous-employer verification, background screening, drug testing, medical certification, and other required checks.
  • Prepare candidate profiles and hiring recommendations for final review by Landway leadership.
  • Communicate approved offers and guide drivers through onboarding, truck assignment, and their first dispatched trip.
  • Support newly hired drivers during their first 30 calendar days, then transfer ongoing operational support, recurring compliance, and document renewals to the appropriate Landway manager.
  • Track sourcing activity, candidate stages, recruiting costs, completed hires, first dispatches, and 30-day driver retention.
REQUIRED EXPERIENCE
  • At least two years of hands-on experience recruiting CDL-A drivers in the United States.
  • Direct experience with a U.S. motor carrier, trucking company, transportation staffing firm, or specialized driver recruiting organization.
  • Working knowledge of DOT/FMCSA driver qualification procedures.
  • Demonstrated ability to source CDL-A drivers independently, not only manage employer-provided leads.
  • Experience interviewing drivers, reviewing driving histories, coordinating pre-employment checks, and supporting onboarding.
  • Excellent spoken and written English, strong organization, and consistent candidate follow-up.
  • Ability to respond promptly to candidates while independently organizing your working schedule.
  • Availability for occasional in-person meetings in Knoxville/Farragut, Tennessee.
COMPENSATION

This is a 1099 independent contractor engagement, not a W-2 employee position.

  • $250 performance payment for each company-approved driver who completes onboarding, receives a truck assignment, and starts their first dispatched trip.
  • An additional $350 when that driver remains actively employed and in good standing for 30 calendar days.

Approved advertising, recruiting-platform, and candidate-screening expenses are paid separately by Landway Inc. and are not deducted from the contractor’s compensation.

  • Landway Inc. considers qualified applicants without regard to any status protected by applicable law.
