Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a Category Manager, Logistics Services to lead category strategies for transportation, fleet, couriers, and related logistics services. This virtual role can be located anywhere in the United States.

Reporting to the Director of Supply Management, you will partner with internal clients and suppliers to develop strategies, lead sourcing and negotiations, and improve cost, service, and risk metrics. Requires 7+ years and a bachelor’s in a relevant field.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Management or related field or equivalent combination of education and related experience required.
• Master's degree is preferred.
• Professional certification (e.g. C.P.M., CPSM, CIRM, CPIM, etc.) preferred.

Responsibilities

• Category Strategy & Planning: Develop, document, and execute category strategies for assigned logistics services based on business requirements, spend and demand analysis, market intelligence, supplier capabilities, risk, and total cost considerations.
• Strategic Sourcing: Lead complex sourcing initiatives from strategy development through market assessment, competitive solicitation, supplier evaluation and selection, contracting, and implementation.
• Negotiation & Commercial Management: Develop strategies and lead negotiations for contracts and pricing, securing favorable terms and conditions while managing risk and ensuring compliance.
• Cost, Value & Performance Improvement: Analyze procurement spend and identify, implement, and track opportunities to improve total cost, service, efficiency, financial performance, risk, and supply continuity without compromising quality or business requirements.
• Analysis & Business Cases: Analyze spend, cost drivers, market conditions, supplier capabilities, operational requirements, and other relevant information; develop business cases and support fact-based sourcing decisions.
• Supplier Management & Performance: Identify suppliers, establish performance expectations, define KPIs, monitor performance, and drive corrective action and continuous improvement.
• Stakeholder Management: Partner with internal clients and cross-functional stakeholders to develop strategies and ensure successful implementation.
• Category Governance & Reporting: Maintain documentation and provide timely reporting on strategies, activities, performance, risks, and financial impact.
