Job summary

The American Red Cross is seeking a Category Manager, Logistics Services for the Supply Chain Business Unit. This is a remote position and can be located anywhere in the United States.

The role partners with internal clients, Supply Management colleagues, cross-functional teams, and suppliers to develop category strategies, lead sourcing and negotiations, and manage supplier performance. The position focuses on transportation, fleet, couriers, and related logistics services, driving cost and

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Supply Management or related field; Master's preferred.
• Professional certification (C.P.M., CPSM, CIRM, CPIM) preferred.
• Minimum 7 years of related experience in third‑party spend management.
• Experience managing spend within a large organization.

Responsibilities

• Develop, document, and execute category strategies for assigned logistics services based on business requirements, spend and demand analysis, market intelligence, supplier capabilities, risk, and total cost considerations.
• Lead complex sourcing initiatives from strategy development through market assessment, competitive solicitation, vendor evaluation and selection, contracting, and implementation.
• Develop strategies and lead negotiations for contracts and pricing, securing favorable terms while managing risk and ensuring compliance.
• Analyze procurement spend and identify opportunities to improve total cost, service, efficiency, and risk; track value delivered (cost savings/avoidance).
• Analyze spend, market conditions, supplier capabilities, and operational requirements to support business cases and sourcing decisions.
• Identify and evaluate suppliers, set performance KPIs, governance requirements, and drive corrective actions and continuous improvement.
• Partner with internal clients and stakeholders to understand requirements, build alignment, and implement sourcing and supplier-management initiatives.
• Maintain category, sourcing, supplier, and project documentation and provide timely reporting on activities and performance.
