Job summary

NANA Management Services seeks a remote head cook to manage kitchen staff in a remote Alaska camp, ensuring safe operations and top-quality food service. You will train staff, uphold safety standards, and coordinate with safety personnel to maintain a strong safety culture.

The role requires five years of cooking supervisory experience, ability to work 12-hour shifts, and living in dormitory-style accommodations. English proficiency and pre-employment screenings are mandatory.

Qualifications

• Must have or obtain an Alaska Food Workers Card and/or ServSafe Certification upon hire.
• Must pass all pre-employment requirements (drug test, physical, fit for duty, hearing test).
• Must read, understand, write and speak English.
• Ability to work in dormitory-style remote camp housing.

Responsibilities

• Selects and develops recipes based on type of food to be prepared.
• Cooks or prepares food according to recipe.
• Prepares, cooks, and serves meats, sauces, vegetables, soups, and other foods.
• Carves meats.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of work areas.
• Maintain client and employee communications to improve service quality.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
• Instructs and trains staff on safety policies and procedures.
• Supervise up to 30 on-site staff in a remote camp environment.
• Notify supervisor if safety standards are not met.
• Other duties pertinent to department success.
