Job summary

NMS is seeking a remote head cook to lead kitchen staff in a remote Alaska camp, ensuring a positive, safe work environment and delivering quality services. You will train staff, supervise up to 30 employees, and ensure compliance with safety and sanitation standards.

The role requires five years of related cooking experience, ability to train others, and strong teamwork. Work in a remote camp, with travel to remote locations as needed, and maintain excellent communication with clients and staff.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent.
• At least five (5) years of directly related restaurant cooking experience.
• Ability to instruct and train others; handle multiple tasks.

Responsibilities

• Selects and develops recipes based on type of food to be prepared.
• Cooks or prepares food according to recipe.
• Prepares, cooks, and serves meats, sauces, vegetables, soups, and other foods.
• Carves meats.
• Monitor and maintain cleanliness, sanitation and organization of assigned work areas.
• Maintains client and employee communications to improve service quality.
• Adhere to safety policies and procedures.
• Instructs and trains assigned staff on safety policies.
• Participates in safety programs and reduces injuries.
• Coordinates safety activities and conducts safety meetings.
• Manages up to 30 on-site staff in remote camp environments.
• Notify supervisor if safety standards are not met.
• Other duties as assigned.
