Job summary

UNAVAILABLE in Alaska seeks a Kitchen Helper to support a remote camp kitchen. Responsibilities include sanitation, cleaning, and basic food preparation in a challenging environment. You will assist cooks, manage stock, and help with serving duties across dining and storage areas.

The role requires the ability to stand for long shifts, work as part of a team, and meet safety and English-language requirements. Training and meals may be provided in a remote camp setting.

Qualifications

• At least one year of work experience in a commercial kitchen or related vocational training.
• Must obtain Alaska Food Workers Card and/or ServSafe Certification upon hire.
• Must pass pre-employment testing including drug, physical, fit-for-duty and hearing tests, with travel to testing facility if needed.
• Ability to cooperate and work as part of a team with staff and clients.
• Must be able to stand for 12 hours per shift.
• Must live in dormitory-style housing and meet cleanliness requirements of remote camps.
• Contract requires English proficiency (read/write/speak).
• Must meet all safety guidelines and regulations set by company and client.

Responsibilities

• Assist cooks and coordinate activities within food service areas.
• Prepare food and cook vegetables, entrees, coffee, sauces, meats, etc.
• Maintain sanitation and stock levels in kitchens and serving areas.
• Stock products and materials across dining and storage areas.
• Clean dishes, utensils, pots, and pans; organize storage areas.
• Wash items by hand or with cleaning equipment.
• Clean and maintain dining, kitchen, and storage areas; floors included.
• Assist with scheduled large cleaning projects.
• Remove garbage from assigned areas.
• Set up and break down tables, snack bars, display cases, and serving lines.
• May occasionally prepare food or cook items as needed.
• Other duties as assigned by supervisor.
