Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer I, BESS to create preliminary BESS designs and review others, with hybrid work options or full remote in the U.S. You will perform basic electrical calculations, draft in AutoCAD, and stay current with NEC/NFPA 855 codes.

The role requires a B.S. in Electrical Engineering, and an EIT or on-track certification, with strong attention to detail and teamwork. Applicants should be legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
• Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles, including wire sizing and current calculations.
• Basic knowledge of applicable building codes, engineering principles, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• BESS Design Support: Create preliminary BESS layouts and single line diagrams using templates; review bid drawings and communicate differences; evaluate RFPs against standard designs; collaborate with Business Development and Estimating on RFP responses; perform basic electrical calculations.
• CAD Drafting: Create and modify electrical engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
• Code and Regulatory Research: Research and stay current on NEC, NFPA 855 and other codes.
• Project Collaboration: Participate in design reviews and work with other engineering disciplines.
• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare technical reports, calculations, and specifications; maintain design revision history.
