SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer I for BESS projects. The role involves creating preliminary BESS designs, reviewing designs, and supporting bid and RFP responses in a hybrid/remote setting with in-office options in San Diego, CA, Edison, NJ, Bend, OR or fully remote.

The ideal candidate holds a BE in Electrical Engineering, pursues or has EIT certification, and is proficient with AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook. Strong attention to detail and safety are essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
• Demonstrated proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles, including wire sizing, current calculations.

Responsibilities

• Create preliminary BESS layouts and single line diagrams using templates.
• Perform review of bid drawings to internal standards and document differences.
• Review RFPs and evaluate against our standard designs. Documents and communicate unique specifications to necessary parties.
• Works with Business Development and Estimating to ensure an appropriate response is made to an RFP.
• Performs basic electrical engineering calculations to support design.
• CAD Drafting: Create and modify electrical engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
• Code and Regulatory Research: Research and stay current on applicable electrical codes/standards.
• Project Collaboration: Participate in design reviews and collaborate with other engineering disciplines and project teams.
• Documentation and Reporting: Assist in the preparation of technical reports, calculations, and specifications.
