Job summary

SOLV Energy is seeking a Design Engineer I, BESS to develop preliminary BESS designs and review designs created by others. The role supports bid responses and coordination with BD and Estimating teams.

Hybrid work is available with in-office presence in multiple locations or full remote arrangements discussed during interviews. Responsibilities include basic electrical calculations, drafting in AutoCAD, and ensuring compliance with NEC/NFPA 855.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles, including wire sizing, current calculations.
• Knowledge of building codes, engineering principles, and industry best practices.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work independently and in a team.
• Commitment to safety and sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

• BESS design support: create preliminary BESS layouts and single line diagrams using templates.
• Review bid drawings to internal standards and document differences.
• Evaluate RFPs against standard designs and communicate unique specs.
• Collaborate with Business Development and Estimating on RFP responses.
• Perform basic electrical engineering calculations to support design.
• CAD drafting: create/modify electrical drawings using AutoCAD.
• Research electrical codes/standards (NEC, NFPA 855).
• Participate in design reviews and collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
• Prepare technical reports, calculations, and specifications; maintain revision history.
