Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer I, BESS to create preliminary BESS designs and review designs from others. The role supports design, drafting, and regulatory research across hybrid or fully remote work setups with in-person presence in multiple locations.

The position requires a Bachelor's in Electrical Engineering, EIT status or progress, and strong AutoCAD/Office skills. Collaboration with BD and Estimating is expected, along with rigorous safety practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
• Proficiency in AutoCAD, Word, Excel, Teams, and Outlook.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles, including wire sizing, current calculations.
• Basic knowledge of applicable building codes, engineering principles, and industry best practices.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
• Ability to work effectively both independently and within a team environment.
• Commitment to safety and strong sense of urgency.

Responsibilities

• BESS Design Support: Create preliminary BESS layouts and single line diagrams using templates.
• Review bid drawings to internal standards and document differences; evaluate RFPs.
• Collaborate with Business Development and Estimating on responses to RFPs.
• Perform basic electrical engineering calculations to support design.
• CAD Drafting: Create and modify electrical drawings using AutoCAD.
• Code and Regulatory Research: Stay current on NEC and NFPA 855 and other codes.
• Project Collaboration: Participate in design reviews with other disciplines.
• Documentation and Reporting: Prepare technical reports, calculations, and specs.
