Job summary

SOLV Energy, Inc. is seeking a Design Engineer I, BESS to create preliminary BESS designs and review others’ work. The role offers hybrid work with regular in-office presence in San Diego, CA, Edison, NJ, Bend, OR or fully remote; location specifics will be discussed during interview.

The engineer will perform basic electrical calculations, draft with AutoCAD, and stay current on NEC/NFPA 855 codes while collaborating across disciplines and supporting RFP responses.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from an accredited institution.
• EIT certification or on track to obtain it.
• Basic understanding of electrical engineering principles, including wire sizing and current calculations.
• Basic knowledge of building codes, engineering principles, and industry best practices.

Responsibilities

• Create preliminary BESS layouts and single line diagrams using templates.
• Perform review of bid drawings to internal standards and document differences.
• Review RFPs and evaluate against standard designs; communicate unique specs to necessary parties.
• Collaborate with Business Development and Estimating to respond to RFPs.
• Perform basic electrical engineering calculations to support design.
• Create and modify electrical engineering drawings using AutoCAD.
• Research electrical codes/standards such as NEC and NFPA 855.
• Participate in design reviews and collaborate with other engineering disciplines.
