Job summary

Affirm is seeking a Bank Controller to lead the bank accounting function during a growth phase. You will oversee day-to-day operations, build and mentor the accounting team, and collaborate with cross‑functional partners to ensure accurate financial reporting and regulatory compliance.

The role emphasizes strategic analysis, process improvement, and automation in partnership with engineering and product teams. It is offered in a remote‑first setup with strong compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• CPA or CA designation required or equivalent.
• Minimum 10 years in Accounting, Finance or Treasury-related areas.
• Minimum 5 years of people management experience.
• Experience building tools and processes, scaling an accounting team in a similar industry.
• Extensive knowledge of GAAP and regulatory reporting.
• Proven analysis, cash management, and modeling experience.
• Extremely detail oriented with a strategic, can-do attitude.

Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day operations of the bank accounting function.
• Build and lead the accounting team with strategic direction and coaching.
• Serve as primary liaison with cross-functional partners.
• Oversee monthly financial reporting to internal and external stakeholders.
• Ensure timely regulatory filings (FFIEC 041, Part 363, Federal Reserve).
• Coordinate annual bank financial statement audit with external auditors.
• Drive automation of accounting/reporting tools in collaboration with engineering/product teams.
• Manage additional financial analysis and project work as required.
