Affirm is hiring a Software Engineer to design and build a reliable, next-generation platform for production systems. You’ll blend distributed systems engineering with AI-assisted development to give teams a single place to understand, debug, and improve service health.

This hands-on role emphasizes rapid iteration with a high bar for reliability and quality, including ownership of quarterly goals, collaboration across product, design and analytics, and proactive issue resolution.

Qualifications

• Total 4+ years of experience as a software engineer.
• Experience designing, developing and launching backend systems at scale (Python, Kotlin, AWS, MySQL, Kubernetes).
• Experience shipping web apps using declarative UI frameworks (React or Vue).
• Practical use of LLMs or AI frameworks to enhance automation and guidance with guardrails and citations.
• Ability to define a technical plan for delivery of major features with clean, extensible design.
• Strong ownership and impact mindset; capable of making large codebase changes safely.
• Excellent verbal and written communication for global collaboration.
• Equivalent practical experience or a Bachelor's in a related field.
