Job summary

Travelers is seeking an Outside Auto Appraiser to inspect damaged vehicles, estimate repair costs, and settle total losses. This remote role involves mobile and on-site work at customer locations or body shops.

You will support claim staff with vehicle damage assessments and use standard estimating tools. Ideal candidates hold an active adjuster license, a Bachelor’s Degree, and 2+ years in auto physical damage appraisal.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or higher preferred.
• Active adjuster license required where applicable.
• 2+ years auto physical damage appraisal experience preferred.
• Experience with claims management systems and estimating software.
• Strong communication and customer-service skills.
• Ability to handle multiple tasks and make sound decisions.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and assess vehicle damage via on-site or virtual inspections.
• Review estimates and coordinate with repair facilities for accuracy.
• Prepare repair estimates for parts, labor and materials.
• Determine actual cash value and settle total losses.
• Negotiate cost and settlements with body shops and customers.
• Document pre-existing damage and potential fraud indicators.
• Coordinate with claims teams to resolve issues efficiently.
• Explain appraisal process and keep customers informed throughout.
• Adapt to new tech and AI-enabled tools.
