Job summary

Travelers is seeking an Outside Auto Appraiser to inspect damage, estimate repairs, and determine actual cash value of total losses. This remote role serves auto claim staff and partners with body shops to achieve timely settlements.

You will use industry-standard estimating software, perform virtual or on-site inspections, and provide exceptional customer service while adhering to Travelers' standards and regulatory requirements.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree is required.
• Active adjuster license where applicable.
• Two years of auto physical damage appraisal experience.
• Proficient in claims management and estimating software with strong MS Office skills.
• Demonstrates clear verbal and written communication; professional judgment and customer focus.

Responsibilities

• Inspect and assess vehicle damage via on-site or virtual visits with body shops or customers.
• Prepare repair estimates using standard estimating software for parts, labor, and materials.
• Evaluate and settle total losses by determining actual cash value through market research.
• Negotiate with body shops, customers, and third parties to reach fair settlements.
• Document pre-existing damage and potential fraud indicators to protect Travelers’ interests.
• Collaborate with claim reps, shops, and vendors to coordinate repairs and approve supplements.
• Explain the appraisal process and keep customers informed through the lifecycle of the claim.
• Adapt to new technology implementations and digital tool rollouts while maintaining productivity.
