Job summary

GAF seeks an Asphalt Process Excellence Manager to lead a multi-plant initiative focused on process excellence in asphalt yards, driving safety, efficiency, and cost improvements across manufacturing and supply chain. You will work with Corporate Engineering, Operations, Plant personnel, R&D, QA, and third-party oxidizers.

The role emphasizes standards deployment, data-driven problem solving, and change management to advance continuous improvement across the network. 50% travel is expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum of 10+ years of demonstrated experience in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 5+ years supporting process engineering at multiple locations.
• Supervisory experience or project management lead experience.
• Experience in continuous web machine operation or design.
• Knowledge of the roofing process and ASTM Roofing Codes.
• Advanced demonstrated communications skills; written, verbal, and listening skills
• Advanced analytical skills
• Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail – able to plan, execute, and control multiple tasks simultaneously
• Advanced problem solving skills
• Advanced communication skills across multiple levels of the organization both with technical as well as managerial teams
• Advanced Leadership skills in developing new techniques and processes for data analysis
• Demonstrated hands-on experience
• Strong ability to influence and drive cross-functional and cross-plant decisions and initiatives

Responsibilities

• Define, document, and implement Standards and Best Known Practices across plants.
• Lead Communities of Practice for knowledge sharing and troubleshooting.
• Identify cost savings and efficiency improvements; reduce downtime, scrap, and costs.
• Serve as point of contact to standardize instrumentation and plant systems.
• Collaborate with Corporate and Plants to adopt new technology.
• Participate in HAZOPs and drive safety improvements.
• Provide expertise and address plant quality issues or large claims.
• Apply systematic problem-solving and data-analysis tools (SPC, DOE, 5-Whys, etc.).
• Set team priorities using plant metrics and data analytics.
• Lead change management to foster continuous improvement.
• Coach and mentor teams to build bench strength.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
