Job summary

GAF is seeking an Asphalt Process Excellence Manager to lead multi-plant process improvements across oxidation facilities. You will coordinate with Corporate Engineering, Operations, R&D, QA, and Supply Chain to enhance safety, productivity, and costs.

The role requires a strong background in chemical/mechanical/industrial engineering, extensive manufacturing experience, and leadership across functions. You will drive standardization and technology adoption while mentoring teams and supporting

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years in a manufacturing environment.
• 5+ years supporting process engineering at multiple locations.
• Supervisory experience or project management lead experience.
• Experience in continuous web machine operation or design.
• Knowledge of the roofing process and ASTM Roofing Codes.
• Advanced communications skills; written, verbal, and listening.
• Advanced analytical skills
• Advanced organizational skills and attention to detail – able to plan, execute, and control multiple tasks simultaneously
• Advanced problem solving skills
• Advanced leadership skills in developing new techniques and processes for data analysis
• Demonstrated hands‑on experience
• Strong ability to influence and drive cross‑functional and cross‑plant decisions and initiatives

Responsibilities

• Leads the team to define, document, and implement Standards and Best Known Practices for their areas of responsibility.
• Drives participation and provides direction within Communities of Practice across the network.
• Identifies cost savings and efficiency opportunities and prioritizes efforts to reduce waste and downtime.
• Serves as designated contact for internal/external experts to set plant standards.
• Collaborates with Corporate and Plants to adopt new technology solutions.
• Participates in safety initiatives and leads process changes from analyses.
• Addresses plant quality issues and large claims with the CoP.
• Applies structured problem solving and data analysis tools to improve processes.
• Sets team priorities using plant metrics and data analytics.
• Leads change management and fosters continuous improvement culture.
• Coaches and mentors technical and process teams.
