Job summary

GAF is seeking an Asphalt Process Excellence Manager to lead multi-plant process improvements across asphalt yards, including oxidation operations. You will partner with Corporate Engineering, Operations, Plant teams, R&D, QA, and Supply Chain to boost safety, efficiency, and costs.

Ideal candidates bring 10+ years in manufacturing, strong cross‑functional leadership, and expertise in process engineering with a focus on data analytics and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering required.
• Minimum 10+ years in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 5+ years supporting process engineering at multiple locations.
• Supervisory or project management experience.
• Experience with continuous web machine operation or design.
• Knowledge of roofing process and ASTM Roofing Codes.
• Advanced communication and analytical skills.
• Strong organizational and leadership abilities for cross‑functional initiatives.

Responsibilities

• Leads team to define, document, and implement Standards and Best Known Practices across plants.
• Drives knowledge sharing and troubleshooting across the network to improve performance.
• Identifies cost savings and efficiency opportunities, reduces downtime, scrap, and costs.
• Acts as point of contact for process and equipment experts to set standards.
• Collaborates with Corporate and Plants to adopt new technology solutions.
• Participates in safety initiatives and leads process changes from analyses.
• Mentors teams to build bench strength and address quality issues.
• Implements structured problem solving and data analysis tools (SPC, DOE, 5‑why, etc.).
• Sets team priorities using plant metrics and data analytics.
• Leads change management and fosters continuous improvement culture.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
