Job summary

GAF is seeking an Asphalt Process Excellence Manager to lead multi-plant process improvements across asphalt yards, driving safety, efficiency, productivity, and cost reductions in oxidation operations.

This role collaborates with Corporate Engineering, Operations, Plant personnel, R&D, QA, third-party oxidizers, and Supply Chain to deploy standards, lead problem solving, and manage change using data analysis and SPC.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• Minimum 10+ years in a manufacturing environment.
• Minimum 5+ years supporting process engineering at multiple locations.
• Supervisory or project management experience.
• Experience with continuous web machines or related design.
• Knowledge of roofing processes and ASTM Roofing Codes.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Advanced analytical and organizational abilities.
• Ability to lead cross-functional, cross-plant decisions.

Responsibilities

• Leads the team to define, document, and implement standards and best practices across plants.
• Drives benchmarking and knowledge sharing to improve performance.
• Identifies cost savings and efficiency improvements; reduces downtime and scrap.
• Partners with internal/external experts to set instrumentation and maintenance standards.
• Champions adoption of new technologies and processes across the network.
• Participates in safety initiatives and leads changes from hazard analyses.
• Provides leadership to address quality issues and large claims.
• Uses structured problem solving and data analytics tools to drive improvements.
• Sets team priorities based on plant metrics and resource optimization.
• Fosters continuous improvement culture and change management across sites.
