Job summary

GAF is seeking an Asphalt Process Excellence Manager to lead multi-plant process improvements across oxidizing facilities and support manufacturing and supply chain efforts. The role focuses on safety, efficiency, productivity, and cost reduction, coordinating with Engineering, Operations, R&D, QA, third-party oxidizers, and Supply Chain.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in Chemical, Mechanical, or Electrical Engineering.
• 10+ years manufacturing experience.
• 5+ years supporting process engineering at multiple locations.
• Supervisory or project lead experience.
• Experience in continuous web machine operation or design.
• Knowledge of roofing processes and ASTM Roofing Codes.
• Strong written, verbal, and listening skills.
• Advanced analytical and organizational skills.

Responsibilities

• Lead teams to define, document, and implement standards and best practices across plants.
• Drive Communities of Practice participation for knowledge sharing and troubleshooting.
• Identify cost savings and efficiency improvements; reduce variability, downtime, and scrap.
• Serve as the designated contact for internal and external process experts to set equipment and instrumentation standards.
• Collaborate with corporate teams to adopt new technology solutions.
• Participate in HAZOP and lead safety improvement initiatives.
• Provide coaching to build bench strength within the network.
• Lead structured problem solving using SPC, DOE, and other tools.
• Set team priorities using plant metrics and data analytics.
• Drive change management and foster a culture of continuous improvement.
• Mentor technical teams to grow capabilities across plants.
