Job summary

Chart Industries is seeking an Applications Engineer to serve as the primary technical resource for the field sales force, guiding technical and commercial evaluation from inquiry to order. You will work with sales and engineering to deliver reliable solutions for customer needs.

You will review specifications, perform calculations, and coordinate with internal teams to ensure proposals meet all requirements while driving bookings and customer satisfaction.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or related field required.
• Experience with centrifugal air/gas turbo-expanders and related equipment.
• 3+ years in bidding/proposal preparation for engineered equipment.
• Ability to read and interpret P&IDs and technical drawings.
• Experience with API and ASME codes.
• Knowledge of Gas Dynamics / Control & Electrical or Mechanical design is a plus.
• Proficiency with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MS Word/Excel/Project.
• Experience in Oil & Gas, Air Separation and Power Generation.
• Risk assessment experience is a plus.
• Strong communication skills; self-starter and independent work style.

Responsibilities

• Receive customer specs and develop proposals for turbo-expanders and related equipment.
• Review specifications and tailor designs to meet requirements beyond standard scope.
• Perform calculations and product selections to meet process needs.
• Collaborate with Commercial/Sales to present and refine proposals.
• Lead internal proposal processes across multiple teams to account for costs and scheduling.
• Meet KPIs such as bookings value, margins, OTD, and proposal pipeline.
• Promote safety procedures and develop product knowledge.
• Provide design and specification support to consultants, integrators, and distributors.
• Respond to RFIs/RFPs and maintain relationships with target accounts.
