Job summary

Chart Industries is seeking an Applications Engineer to support field sales with technical and commercial assessments for cryogenic equipment projects. You will review customer specs, prepare proposals, and coordinate across engineering, sales, and operations to secure opportunities.

Responsibilities include evaluating specifications, performing calculations, leading proposal efforts, and ensuring compliance with API/ASME codes while maintaining safety standards and strong customer relationships.

Qualifications

• BS in Engineering or related field.
• Experience in centrifugal air/gas turbo-expander/turbo-compressor or similar rotating equipment.
• At least 3 years bidding/proposal preparation experience for engineered equipment or systems.
• Ability to read and understand bid/proposal specifications (technical and commercial).
• Competent in reading technical drawings including P&IDs.
• Experience with API & ASME codes.
• Knowledge of Gas Dynamics / Auxiliary System Design / Control & Electrical or Mechanical Design is a plus.
• Proficient with AutoCAD, SolidWorks, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Project.
• Experience in Oil & Gas, Air Separation and Power Generation.

Responsibilities

• Receive and review customer specifications for technical and commercial requirements for new equipment projects.
• Develop and align proposals for centrifugal turbo-expanders, turbo-compressors, and related equipment to generate proposals and secure business.
• Perform technical review of customer specifications and identify requirements outside standard scope.
• Perform calculations and product selections to meet process needs.
• Lead technical and commercial proposal discussions with customers and refine designs based on VOC feedback.
• Manage internal proposal process across teams to ensure complete, cost-effective proposals.
• Meet KPIs such as bookings value, margins, OTD, and proposal pipeline.
• Promote safety procedures and proper PPE.
• Develop product knowledge and articulate positioning to business and technical users.
• Provide design and specification support to consultants, integrators, and distributors.
• Respond to RFIs/RFPs and gather customer requirements.
• Provide technical/product training for salespeople and engineers.
• Assist in design/development of new products and tools for target accounts.
• Maintain accurate records of accounts and opportunities in Salesforce.
• Resolve customer issues to align with company goals.
• Maintain professional relationships with target accounts and provide project status updates.
• Identify customer needs and sales opportunities for growth.
• Other duties as assigned.
