Job summary

Lumen is hiring an API Technology Architect to act as a customer-facing technical specialist within the SWAT team. You will lead API-focused discovery, guide integration designs, and translate business requirements into secure API-driven solutions, collaborating across product and engineering teams.

You will engage in workshops, architecture discussions, and enablement efforts, delivering practical resources and training for Technical Sellers and customers while traveling as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Information Systems, Telecommunications, or related field, or equivalent relevant education and professional experience.
• 10 or more years of relevant experience in one or more of the following areas: technical pre‑sales, solution architecture, API or integration architecture, software or platform consulting, network automation, or telecommunications engineering.
• Demonstrated experience leading technical discovery and translating customer business and technical requirements into clear, supportable solution designs.
• Working knowledge of API authentication and authorization concepts, including OAuth 2.0, tokens, credentials, scopes, and secure handling of secrets.
• Strong written, verbal, listening, presentation, and facilitation skills, with the ability to communicate effectively with developers, engineers, architects, sales teams, product teams, operations teams, and business leaders.
• Strong organizational skills and demonstrated ability to manage multiple customer engagements, enablement deliverables, and competing priorities.

Responsibilities

• Lead API architecture and customer integration within the SWAT team and with customers.
• Architect and document customer integration patterns, including system context, API dependencies, request/response flows, authentication, and operational support.
• Collaborate with Technology Architects and domain specialists when requirements cross product or organizational boundaries.
• Lead or participate in customer workshops, architecture discussions, demonstrations, integration reviews, troubleshooting, and onboarding calls.
• Create and maintain API enablement resources, including design guides, reference architectures, integration patterns, and FAQs.
