Charter Impact, a remote-first organization, seeks an Accounts Payable Associate to deliver front-line client support across multiple channels while maintaining accurate vendor records and timely invoice processing.

The role requires attention to detail, strong communication, and experience with nonprofit accounting. You will focus on payments, GL coding, and audit-ready documentation in a collaborative team environment.

Qualifications

• A high school diploma and two years of related experience, or a bachelor’s degree in business, accounting, or related field.
• Accounts payable experience is preferred.
• Knowledge of financial record-keeping and accrual accounting principles.
• Proficient with Microsoft Excel and general office software.
• Clear written and verbal communication; team-based work style.
• Ability to learn rules for processing payments for nonprofit organizations and charter schools.
• Strong attention to detail and accuracy; a zero-error mindset.

Responsibilities

• Perform accounts payable duties with accuracy and timeliness to maintain vendor relations.
• Ensure invoices are approved by proper client personnel and routed for payment.
• Verify cash availability and select payments accordingly.
• Void checks, reissue payments, and reverse invoices as needed.
• Prepare rush payments and manage weekly check runs.
• Code invoices to the correct GL accounts for multiple entities.
• Generate AP aging and weekly check registers for clients.
• Maintain recurring payments schedules and leases; ensure timely payments.
• Notify clients of discrepancies and follow up on vendor issues.
• Assist in year-end audit schedules and special projects.
