Job summary

Charter Impact, a remote-first firm helping mission-driven organizations, seeks an Accounts Payable Associate to deliver front-line client support, process invoices, and maintain vendor records.

You will handle weekly check runs, GL coding, and ensure accurate payments across multiple entities, collaborating with clients via email and phone.

This role is remote for candidates in AZ, CA, CO, CT, ID, IL, MI, NV, OR, SD, TX, UT and WA, with competitive compensation and benefits.

Qualifications

• Two years of accounts payable experience or related degree.
• Knowledge of accrual accounting principles and financial record-keeping.
• Strong Microsoft Excel skills.
• Proficiency in English; clear written and verbal communication.
• Ability to work in a remote environment and meet deadlines.
• Experience with nonprofit accounting systems is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Perform accounts payable duties with accuracy and timeliness.
• Approve invoices with proper client personnel.
• Verify cash availability and select payments.
• Void checks, reissue payments, and reverse invoices.
• Prepare rush payments and ensure timely posting.
• Code invoices to correct general ledger accounts.
• Generate AP aging and weekly check registers.
• Maintain recurring payments schedules and vendor files.
• Respond to client inquiries and resolve discrepancies.
• Assist in year-end audit schedules and special projects.
