Job summary

CONTACT Care Line is seeking a fully remote Crisis Counselor to join our 988 Crisis Program. This full-time role requires eight-and-a-half hour shifts, weekend work, and adherence to clinical, legal, and operational guidelines while delivering compassionate, confidential support.

You will assess suicide risk, document interactions, coordinate safety plans, provide referrals to community resources, and participate in training. Proficiency with web-based tools, Slack, and Teams is essential.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Social Work or related mental health field or equivalent.
• Minimum 1 year of experience in mental health or crisis intervention.
• Must be able to remain calm and apply logical reasoning in high-stress situations.
• Proficient with web-based apps and basic tech troubleshooting.
• Commitment to non-judgmental, compassionate visitor support.
• Complete CONTACT Crisis Counselor Basic Training within two weeks of employment.
• Able to maintain confidentiality and follow policies and procedures.
• Must be 18+ and not a current client of CONTACT Care Line.

Responsibilities

• Respond to 988 chat, text, and telephone interactions in a timely and compassionate manner.
• Manage two concurrent chats during chat-focused shifts.
• Assess and mitigate suicide risk using established protocols.
• Provide referrals to community resources as needed.
• Document all interactions accurately and thoroughly.
• Maintain an active presence in Slack and join Teams meetings when requested.
• Adhere to clinical, legal, and operational guidelines.
