Carter Lumber Company is seeking an Outside Sales Representative in Indiana to develop and manage relationships with local contractors, builders and remodelers. You will sell our full line of building materials and installed services, visit job sites, and maintain accurate customer data.

Salary plus commission with uncapped earning potential. The role emphasizes meeting targets, growing the territory, and representing a multi-brand builder with a family-owned culture.

Qualifications

• Experience in sales with proven ability to develop and close opportunities.
• Knowledge of home building basics and materials used in projects.
• Ability to read blueprints and provide material take-off lists.
• Strong planning, organization, and time-management skills.
• Comfort with cold/warm calling, account development, and monthly targets.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office and standard business software.
• Willingness to attend builder functions and industry events.

Responsibilities

• Find and close sales of the full line of building materials and services.
• Manage ongoing relationships with contractors, builders, and remodelers.
• Visit job sites, maintain customer data, and track product usage trends.
• Read blueprints and prepare material quotes and special orders.
• Open new accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis and grow territory.
