Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking an Outside Sales Representative in Indiana to build and maintain strong relationships with local contractors and remodelers. You will sell our full line of building materials and installed services, then manage the project and relationship through completion.

Salary and commission structure drive earnings; the role requires independent work, strong planning, and effective communication with multiple departments.

Qualifications

• Experience in sales with building materials or home improvement is preferred.
• Basic knowledge of home building is advantageous.
• Ability to read blueprints and prepare material takeoffs or quotes.
• Proficient in Microsoft Office suite for estimating and reporting.
• Strong self-management and communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Find and close sales with local contractors, builders, and remodelers.
• Manage the customer relationship after a sale and coordinate installs.
• Visit job sites as needed and maintain project schedules.
• Develop quotes, estimates, and special orders for customers.
• Attend industry events and represent the company professionally.
