Job summary

Carter Lumber is seeking an Outside Sales Representative in Fort Wayne to develop and maintain relationships with local contractors, builders, and remodelers. The role focuses on selling a full line of building materials and installed services, while managing the ongoing project relationship and customer information.

You will visit job sites, maintain schedules, and apply proven sales strategies with a commission-based pay structure.

Qualifications

• Experience in sales within building materials or construction.
• Knowledge of home building basics and construction terminology.
• Ability to create material estimates/quotes and process special orders.
• Open new accounts on a monthly/quarterly basis.
• Learn to read blueprints and provide material take off lists.
• Ability to work independently with strong planning skills.
• Experience with Microsoft Office suite.

Responsibilities

• Find and close sales of our full line of building materials and installed services.
• Manage each sold job and the long-term customer relationship.
• Collect and maintain customer information on product use and trends.
• Visit job sites as needed and maintain field schedules.
• Communicate effectively to ensure repeat business and referrals.
