Qualifications

• Post secondary education in medical office administration or healthcare administration preferred.
• 2–4 years of experience in a healthcare setting including patient registration, medical office scheduling, or front desk/admissions required.
• 2–4 years of experience in customer service required.
• Previous team lead or supervisory experience, or demonstrated leadership skills preferred.

Responsibilities

• Leads, mentors, and supports the registration team, ensuring proper training, efficient workflow, and adherence to department policies.
• Obtains and verifies patient demographic and insurance information with courtesy and professionalism.
• Ensures accuracy when entering patient data into the registration system and obtaining consent/authorization forms.
• Reviews insurance eligibility responses, interprets coverage details, and captures accurate information for services rendered.
• Audits patient registration and admission records for accuracy and assists in correcting errors.
• Assists supervisors with quality assurance efforts and identifies training opportunities and process improvements.
• Provides on-the-job training and coaching to registrars on policies, systems, and insurance requirements.
• Requests and collects patient payments, counseling self-pay patients on financial obligations and options.
• Notifies ancillary departments and providers of patient arrivals and registration status; follows up on delays.
• Assists in resolving registration and insurance-related issues, escalating complex concerns as needed.
• Supports leadership with registration-related reporting and special projects.
