Job summary

Mercy Hospital in Saint Louis is seeking a Respiratory Care Practitioner to perform direct patient care across respiratory modalities under physician orders. The role includes consulting on therapy effectiveness and acting as a resource for physicians and nursing staff.

Candidates must hold a Missouri RCP license and an NBRC RRT credential; PALS is required in the ER. ACLS is preferred. The position offers a 7 pm–7 am shift with eligible shift differential and a sign-on bonus of up to $10,000.

Qualifications

• Graduate of a CoARC approved Respiratory Care program.
• Current Missouri licensure as Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP).
• RRT NBRC credential required; PALS for ER team.
• Physical demands include lifting up to 50 lbs. and other movements as described.
• ACLS is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Performs direct patient care in all aspects of respiratory care per physician orders.
• Consults physicians on effectiveness of therapy and progress.
• Acts as an advanced resource for physicians and nursing staff on respiratory care.
• Performs duties as assigned by supervisors.

Qualifications

• Education: Graduate of CoArc approved Respiratory Care program.
• Licensure: Meets state licensure requirements and has a current Respiratory Care Practitioner (RCP) license.
• Experience: None.
• Certifications: Hold the Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) credential awarded by the National Board for Respiratory Care (NBRC). For co-workers who work in the Emergency Room PALS is required.
• Other: Physical demands are attached plus push, pull, and grip up to 50 lbs. Plus, pinch up to 10 lbs., kneel, crouch, and crawl minimally. Equipment Used: All appropriate respiratory care devices.
• Preferred Education: Acute Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
• Preferred Experience: Prefer critical care experience.
